About Madras Sanskrit College
Established in February 1906 by the eminent jurist V. Krishnaswami Iyer, Madras Sanskrit College has, for over a century, served as a premier center of Sanskrit learning. Its founding mission was to protect India’s intellectual heritage, preserve the gurukula system, and uphold traditional sanskriti – remains unchanged. Affiliated with the University of Madras since 1907 and recognized by the Tamil Nadu government, the college has grown steadily into a beacon of classical scholarship.
